The COST Action ‘NEXT’ for Extreme Ultraviolet to X-Ray techniques will be coordinated from IMDEA Nanociencia
Cristian Svetina coordinates the COST Action NEXT, involving researchers from 16 European countries.
The COST Action NEXT aims to be an instrument to foster cooperation between Extreme Ultraviolet and X-ray facilities with the ultimate objective of promoting the X-ray non-linear spectroscopy science. The first meeting of the event took place in July at IMDEA Nanociencia.

The doctoral network NeuroNanoTech will be coordinated from IMDEA Nanociencia
Teresa González will be coordinating the newly MSCA Doctoral Network 'NeuroNanoTech', involving 10 partners from 7 countries.

The IDEAL Fellowships programme of IMDEA Nanociencia strengthened with the incorporation of 6 fellows
IDEAL PhD is co-funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND with €1.4M, and complements the IDEAL Postdoc Programme. Coordinated by the Projects Office, the IDEAL Fellowships programme aims to attract exceptional candidates to carry out their Postdocs and PhDs in any of the research areas carried out at the Institute.

New infrastructure: Chemistry lab and Confocal Microscopy
The Systems Chemistry Laboratory of Prof. Thomas Hermans moves to IMDEA Nanociencia. Prof. Hermans has been recently awarded with an ERC Consolidator Grant to run his project SUPRABOT on supramolecular robots.

The awards ceremony was held on November 29 at an event in the Auditorium of the University of Extremadura (Badajoz).

PhD researchers receive recognition at international conferences
Sebastián Mesa Apestegui, predoctoral researcher at the Bio-engineered Nanophotonics, has received the Best Poster Communication Award during the V edition of the Ultrafast Science and Technology Spain (USTS2024) conference, held in Sitges on November 6-8, 2024.
Saül García Orrit, PhD researcher at the Pump-Probe and Photoinduced Absorption Spectroscopies Group, has received the Best Poster Communication Prize at the Franco-Iberian Conference on Photochemistry, held in Lisbon on 10-13th of September 2024.
Dr. Esther Resines Urien, postdoctoral researcher in the Switchable Materials Group at IMDEA Nanociencia, has received the Best Oral Communication Award during the V Congress on Multifunctional Materials, held in Granada on 20-21 May 2024.

Ten researchers affiliated with IMDEA Nanociencia among the 2% most influential
Ten IMDEA Nanociencia researchers are included in the 'Stanford ranking': Francisco Guinea, Johannes Gierschner, Rodolfo Miranda, Emilio M. Pérez, Thomas Hermans, Cristina Flors, José I. Urgel, Nazario Martín, Fernando Martín and Tomás Torres. These lists evaluate scientists from around the world by two factors: the impact of citations throughout their career until the end of 2023 and by the impact of citations during the 2023 calendar year.

IMDEA Nanociencia opens its doors regularly to the public with the aim of reaching the society. This year 790 visitors could see the laboratories of IMDEA Nanociencia during ephemeris such as Semana de la Ciencia, European Researchers' Nigh and International Day of Girls and Women in Science.
