Dra. Ana Isabel Barragán Durán
Ana Barragán is currently a researcher in the "Nanoarchitectonics on surfaces" group, led by Prof. David Écija. The group is dedicated to the design, inspection and understanding of quantum organic, metal-organic and inorganic materials. To this aim, it counts with an excellent research infrastructure comprising three state-of-the-art ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
Ana is the responsible for the daily ncAFM/STM laboratory operation, being one of the very few in Europe able to operate such machines, and she is involved in all the associated research, as well as the co-supervision of PhD and Master's students. Her research mainly focuses on the study and characterization of the structure and electronic properties of novel functional nanomaterials synthesized by on-surface chemistry using local probe microscopy techniques (STM, STS and nc-AFM).
In addition, she was part of the NANOHISPA team in the Nanocar Race II, in 2022, serving as the driver of the car that took first place.
